PFIPC DG Arrest Sparks Transparency Debate

Police arrested Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi, DG of the fictitious Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).  

The Arrest followed a Federal High Court bench warrant after repeated failure to appear.  

He faces eight-count charges of forgery, fraud, and impersonation.  

PFIPC appeared in the 2026 budget with ₦1.3 billion allocation despite lacking legal status.  

President Tinubu directed the ICPC to probe the scandal further.

The arrest of the PFIPC Director General has sparked debate over accountability in foreign aid management. 

Since the PFIPC oversees critical funding channels for development projects, the case is seen as a high‑profile test of transparency.  

Legal experts believe the proceedings could set a precedent for stricter oversight of international funding. 

Government officials promise full cooperation, while civil society groups demand swift justice.
