Lagos State has launched the Lagos State Building Insurance Scheme (LAGBIS), making building insurance compulsory for structures above one storey, commercial facilities, and public buildings.  Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by Deputy Chief of Staff Sam Egube, unveiled the scheme in Lagos on July 24, 2026.  The initiative was introduced through the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) in partnership with Veda Technology.   The governor emphasized: “Growth without safety is not progress, and development without accountability is not sustainable.”    Key Features of LAGBIS The key features of Lagos Business Insurance are tagged as Compulsory Coverage.
