Mali Confirms Nigerian Military Personnel Still Detained in Burkina Faso

Mali’s Minister of Security and Civil Protection has confirmed that eleven Nigerian military personnel — including two pilots and nine officers — remain in custody in Burkina Faso.  

Investigations are still ongoing, and authorities say decisions will be taken once the process is complete.



Nigeria and Saudi Arabia Sign New Security Cooperation Agreement

Nigeria and Saudi Arabia have entered into a five‑year security cooperation pact.  

The agreement covers military operations, intelligence sharing, training, and joint activities.  

Officials say the partnership could significantly strengthen Nigeria’s counterterrorism efforts.



Defence Headquarters Orders Removal of Unauthorized Roadblocks

The Defence Headquarters has directed the immediate dismantling of non‑essential and unauthorized roadblocks across major highways.  

The military says the proliferation of unapproved checkpoints is affecting operational efficiency and putting civilians at risk.



Bayelsa Deputy Governor Reportedly Slumps and Dies

Bayelsa State Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, has reportedly passed away after collapsing in his office.  

He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, where he was confirmed dead.  

Preliminary reports point to a possible cardiac-related emergency.
