Important Update: Mandatory NIN Requirement for 2025 BECE and SSCE Registrations

Lagos, Nigeria — The Ministry of Education has announced a crucial update for students registering for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE). In line with the directive from the Honourable Minister of Education, the insertion of candidates' National Identification Number (NIN) has been made compulsory for the registration process.

This significant policy change aims to ensure that each candidate's NIN is inscribed on their certificates. The Council has emphasized the importance of this directive over the past years, advocating for the inclusion of the NIN during registration via the offline registration portal.

Key Points of the Directive:

1. Compulsory NIN Insertion:
   - Schools are now required to input the candidates' authentic National Identification Number (NIN) during the offline registration before updating it online.

2. Updated Offline Application:
   - Schools that have previously downloaded the 2025 BECE or SSCE offline application must download the current version, which mandates the insertion of the authentic NIN.

3. Successful Registration:
   - Each candidate's valid NIN must be correctly inputted for them to successfully register for the council's 2025 BECE and SSCE.

This move is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to streamline the registration process and ensure the integrity and accuracy of candidates' information on their certificates.

State Coordinator's Message:
Mrs. Alloh B., the State Coordinator, stated, "We appreciate the cooperation of all schools in adhering to this directive. The inclusion of the NIN is crucial for maintaining the accuracy and authenticity of our records. We urge all schools to ensure that the registration process is completed correctly and efficiently."

Schools and candidates are encouraged to take note of these changes and ensure compliance to avoid any disruptions in the registration process.
