Rotimi Amaechi Denies Speculation About ADC Vice Presidency

Former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi has publicly dismissed speculation that he would accept the vice‑presidential slot under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

The rumors, which circulated widely in political and entertainment circles, suggested Amaechi was being positioned as a running mate to strengthen the ADC’s presidential ticket.

Amaechi, however, clarified that he remains focused on pursuing the presidential ticket itself, not a secondary role. In a statement released on May 19, 2026, he described the reports as “baseless” and urged supporters to disregard them.

He emphasized his commitment to leadership at the highest level, citing his track record as Governor of Rivers State and Minister of Transportation.

The speculation had sparked debate across Nigeria’s entertainment and sports communities, where Amaechi’s political career often intersects with celebrity endorsements and public campaigns.

Analysts note that his rejection of the ADC vice‑presidential slot signals both ambition and confidence, while also highlighting the fluid nature of Nigeria’s political alliances ahead of 2027.
