Kano Assembly Lawmaker Defects to NDC

Abdulmajid Isa Umar Mai Rigar Fata, representing Gwale Constituency in Kano State, has officially defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). 


His move follows internal party disputes and his failure to secure a re-election ticket under the APC. 


The defection was celebrated by NDC leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who emphasized the party’s growing influence in Kano and its readiness to challenge the ruling party in 2027. 


Analysts view this as a significant grassroots shift that could reshape Kano’s political landscape.
