Global: UN Court Rules on Gaza Blockade

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) has ruled that Israel’s blockade of Gaza violates international law, declaring it unlawful under humanitarian principles.

The judgment, delivered on May 20, 2026, intensifies global debate over access to aid and the rights of civilians in conflict zones.

Israel has defended the blockade as a security measure, while Palestinian authorities and humanitarian groups hailed the ruling as a victory for international justice.

Western governments are divided, with some calling for compliance and others urging caution.

The decision is expected to reshape diplomatic negotiations in the Middle East, placing renewed pressure on Israel to ease restrictions.
